Gaggenau Appliance Repair

Gaggenau was founded as a smelting plant making hammer and nails in the Black Forest region of Germany in 1683 by aristocrat Margrave Ludwig Wilhelm von Baden, who saw it as way to help the farmers diversify and work their way out of poverty.

By 1873, the company had moved into manufacturing farm machinery, the ironworks having grown in number and scale in response to the industrial revolution. With a growing new industrial class to buy their products, the days of making hammer and nails were long over, and the foundation for the German Engineering legend had been laid.

By 1880, the company was making enamel for hardwearing advertising signs, giving them the valuable experience they need to create robust oven enamel, leading to great success in coal and gas-fired stoves. That same enamel lineage can be seen today in Gaggenau's iconic blue oven interior. Gaggenau, having learned from previous success, adapted with the turn of the century, assuming a pioneering role with an innovative range of products, including bicycles. By 1908, they had sold a total of 250,000 "Badenia" bicycles.

In 1931, having learned the importance of ergonomics, build quality, and distinctive design from their success in bicycles, the company made coal and gas-fired stoves their primary focus, and by the late 1940's Gaggenau began production economical gas and coal ovens, as well as electric ovens. In 1956, Gaggenau paved the way for built-in appliances by creating the first built-in, eye-level, oven, separate cooktop and ventilation appliances.

Gaggenau, heavily influenced by the Bauhaus classical modernism movement in the 1960's, believes 'Form follow Function'. This belief is at the center of Gaggenau designs to this day. In the 1970's Gaggenau presented the world with their first 12" wide Vario cooktop, having a wide variety of specialized appliances that combine to create a bespoke cooking experience. By the 1990's Gaggenau had a full range of major kitchen appliances, and in 1995 became part of Bosch-Siemens Hausgeräte (Home Appliances).
