Viking Appliance Repair

Viking Range Company was founded in 1984 by Fred Carl, Jr. after nearly three years of development. Carl, after a conversation with his wife looking to redesign their kitchen, was looking for a better stove than those available at the time. HIs wife had been used to cooking on a hand built Chambers stove, which was no longer available, and at the time, there were no high-end options available from mainstream manufacturers. For those that could afford it, adapting commercial ranges to home use were the only option, but this presented a number of challenges, as they simply weren't designed for home use.

Viking Ranges were first manufactured under contract by U.S. Range Corporation in Los Angeles, but unfortunately, proved unreliable and production was moved to a contract manufacturer in Tennessee. After the contract manufacturer in Tennessee proved just as unreliable, Carl decided to manufacturer in-house, and opened Viking's first manufacturing facility, a 35,000 square foot facility, in Greenwood, Tennessee in 1988. In late 1989, Viking manufactured their first range at their new facility, moving all production to the facility in 1990, and two years later, opened a new 100,000 square foot facility also in Greenwood, Tennessee that has been home to Viking ever since.

Viking initially offered 10 range models featuring oversized burners and infra-red broilers. The product lineup was quickly expanded to include range hoods to meet customer demand; their range designs did not match anything commercially available at the time, a dishwasher in 1992, commercial quality food waste disposal, and trash compactors a year later. In 1996, Viking added side-by-side commercial-style refrigerators to the product lineup, initially manufactured for Viking by Maytag; Viking moved the manufacturing in-house by 1999, thereby completing their integrated kitchen lineup.

Today, Viking continues to build on the reputation that Carl built, in a market segment that they themselves created. With a full line of major appliances for the kitchen, Viking products continue to be known for their reliability and quality. Since 2013, Viking has been part of the Middleby Corporation, but has not wavered in their resolve to build the best indoor and outdoor cooking, food storage, and cleanup products.
